Brownsberg day tour — jungle, waterfall and a view over the reservoir
One day, and yet properly into the interior. This day tour takes you from Paramaribo to the rainforest on the Brownsberg plateau, a few hours south of the city. The park sits high above the Brokopondo reservoir, and that height is what makes it: the air is cooler, the forest is denser, and the view over the water runs for kilometres.
From the plateau a path leads down to the Leo waterfall, over unpaved forest tracks that climb and drop. Along the way there is a good chance of spotting howler monkeys, toucans and morpho butterflies. Brownsberg is one of the richest spots in Suriname for wildlife.
